What is Ludo? Ludo is a classic board game for two to four players, in which players race their four tokens from start to finish according to the rolls of a single die.
How do you start a game of Ludo? Each player picks a color and places their four tokens in the corresponding starting area. Players take turns rolling the die, and the game begins when a player rolls a 6, allowing them to move a token onto the starting square.
What happens if I roll a 6? Rolling a 6 allows you to either move a new token onto the board or advance one of your existing tokens. Rolling a 6 also grants an extra turn.
How do you move tokens? Tokens move clockwise around the board according to the number rolled on the die. The objective is to move all four tokens to your home column and then to the center of the board.
What is a ‘capture’ in Ludo? A capture occurs when a token lands on a square occupied by an opponent's token. The opponent's token is sent back to its starting area and must roll a 6 to re-enter the game.
Can multiple tokens share a space? Tokens of the same color can share a space and form a block, which cannot be passed or landed on by tokens of other colors. However, tokens of different colors cannot share the same space.
How do you win in Ludo? To win, a player must move all four of their tokens to the home column and then to the center of the board. The first player to do this wins.
What are the safe squares in Ludo? Safe squares are marked spaces on the board where tokens cannot be captured. These are typically located near the starting area and along the home columns.
What if I can’t make a move? If you roll the die and cannot make a legal move, your turn ends, and play passes to the next player.
Can I skip my turn? No, players cannot skip their turn. They must roll the die and make the best possible move based on the roll.
